Whew, these guys have been a difficult friend. But. The Roman Holiday begins with their kind permission!
Looking forward to writing and sharing lots of little photo stories from Europa :)
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck northern Italy early Sunday morning, destroying dozens of historical sites, some as old as 1,000 years. Even 24 hours after the initial quake, aftershocks continued to weaken many of the structures. Italian Instagrammers have been sharing photos of the quake’s aftermath.
People always say,
I have a laugh
Like my mother does.
Guess that makes sense,
She taught me how to smile
When things get rough.
I’ve got her spirit,
She’s always got my back.
When I look at her
I think, I want to be just like that.
She sees everybody
For who they really are.
I’m so thankful for her guidance,
She helped me get this far.
She’s a rock,
She is grace,
She’s an angel.
She’s my heart and soul,
She does it all.
I hear people saying,
I’m starting to look like my mother does.

Water. Bouncing and smashing and sloshing and slashing and swashing and swirling and surging and whirling and gurgling and gushing and rushing and rushing. Like being underneath the biggest waterfall in the world.
Ideas that changed Graphic Design, ranging from metaphoric lettering, psychedelia, visual puns and manifestos to found typography, dust jackets and triangulation.
Because creativity, after all, is a combinatorial force. It’s our ability to tap into the mental pool of resources — ideas, insights, knowledge, inspiration — that we’ve accumulated over the years just by being present and alive and awake to the world, and to combine them in extraordinary new ways. In order for us to truly create and contribute to the world, we have to be able to connect countless dots, to cross-pollinate ideas from a wealth of disciplines, to combine and recombine these ideas and build new ideas — like LEGOs. The more of these building blocks we have, and the more diverse their shapes and colors, the more interesting our creations will become.
Brain Pickings is your LEGO treasure chest, full of pieces across art, design, science, technology, philosophy, history, politics, psychology, sociology, ecology, anthropology, you-name-itology. Pieces that enrich your mental pool of resources and empower you to combine them into original concepts that are stronger, smarter, richer, deeper and more impactful — a modest, curiosity-driven exercise in vision- and mind-expansion. Please enjoy.

Tried my hand at producing Bokeh in my photographs. Realized it all depends on the tricks of light - natural or artificial. There’s few good bokeh results I got and many not so-good. Here are a few of them!
But what’s the point of taking photos such as these? Is it only to produce pretty pictures? In the prettiness of it all, we seem to “lose focus” of what other possibilities the photograph might possess.
